Fort Myers, Fla., August 9, 2021 – The team of 15 medical oncologists from Messino Cancer Centers (MCC) welcome Dr. Emily Miller to the community oncology practice. MCC, an American Oncology Network, LLC (AON) partner, has six office locations in Western North Carolina, in Asheville, Brevard, Franklin, Spruce Pine, Marion and Sylva.

Dr. Miller is seeing patients in Asheville and Franklin. She is Board certified in internal medicine. As a medical oncologist/hematologist, she treats patients with all cancer types and blood disorders, and has a special interest in breast cancer care.

Dr. Miller earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia followed by a residency in internal medicine from Palmetto Health Richland. She completed her fellowship training in medical oncology and hematology at the University of Tennessee West Cancer Center in Memphis.

Dr. Michael Messino founder of Messino Cancer Centers said, “Dr. Miller’s passion for fostering relationships with her patients and their families while guiding them through the entire cancer journey is why she is a perfect fit for our team and we are excited to have her!”

For over 30 years, MCC has been providing high quality cancer care in the Western North Carolina region, conveniently located close to where patients live.

“We welcome Dr. Miller to our team. She prides herself on being an advocate for her patients and truly embodies the community oncology care model of delivering compassionate care with individualized treatments based on each patient,” said AON President & Chief Development Officer Brad Prechtl, MBA.

AON CEO Todd Schonherz added, “Dr. Miller wanted to join us in community oncology because of her strong beliefs in that every patient deserves access to top quality cancer care and clinical trials. This philosophy is the foundation of Messino and AON.”

Through its partnership with AON, the practice offers home delivery of oral oncolytic medications, 24/7 pharmacy assistance, pathology and laboratory services, care management support and palliative care, and access to clinical trials.
