Dr. Puneeth Indurlal

AON Executive Vice President of Strategic Operations and Enterprise Solutions, Dr. Puneeth Indurlal, recently received the prestigious 40 under 40 award from the Association for Value-Based Cancer Care, for his continued impact on cancer care!

What does receiving this 40 under 40 award mean to you?

Receiving this award is an honor and incredibly humbling. Cancer care is such a personal and mission-driven field, and no meaningful work happens in isolation. I see this recognition as a reflection of the collective efforts of amazing mentors, colleagues, leaders, and innovators I’ve had the privilege to work alongside.

For me personally, it reinforces the responsibility we all have to deliver high-quality care, drive superior outcomes, improve access, affordability, and patient experience in oncology care.

What drew you to community oncology and why do you stay?

What initially drew me to community oncology was the realization that some of the most meaningful innovation in healthcare happens closest to the patient. Community oncology practices are balancing clinical excellence, financial sustainability, patient access, and rapidly changing policy dynamics all at once.

What keeps me here is the people and the mission. The work we are doing has very real impact on patient outcomes and the joy of practice for providers. Enabling care delivery through the medley of care transformation, operational optimization, strategic initiatives, and value-based care is incredibly gratifying. Also, there’s a strong sense of purpose and collaboration in community oncology that is very encouraging.

What is the most exciting aspect of your work at AON?

The most exciting part of my work at AON is the ability to build and test new ideas that can genuinely improve oncology care delivery. Working daily at the intersection of strategic operations, innovation, analytics, and value-based care is very energizing. We’re constantly exploring new ways to improve how oncology care is delivered, coordinated, measured, and sustained for both providers and patients, in the communities we call home.

What makes AON unique is the willingness to think ahead while staying grounded in the realities of patient care delivery. I also love that the work combines strategy with execution — we’re not just talking about transformation, we’re actively building it.

What are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of helping create alignment across teams that traditionally operate in very different spaces — clinical, operational, financial, and strategic. Some of the most rewarding work has come from bringing people together around complex challenges and building solutions collaboratively. In healthcare, especially oncology, progress happens when people with different perspectives align around a common mission.

I’m also proud of contributing to initiatives that help strengthen care delivery during a time of significant change in healthcare. The industry is evolving rapidly, and being part of efforts that support sustainability, innovation, and patient-centered care at scale has been incredibly rewarding both professionally and personally. It helps me stay grounded in curiosity and continuous learning.
